What is Ketamine Infusion Therapy?

Ketamine Infusion Therapy is a clinically-proven, safe, and effective treatment for mental health conditions. Treatment consists of the gradual, intravenous infusion of the medicine ketamine, an anesthetic approved by the FDA in 1970. When used to treat mood disorders, a much lower dose of ketamine is administered so patients are conscious and awake the entire time. Every clinic has different protocols. At KCLA, patients receive a series of six 55-minute infusions over 2-3 weeks in a state-of-the-art facility staffed with world-class experts. Each patient receives a private room and is monitored the entire time, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience. Many patients experience significant relief from symptoms after just one infusion. However, the majority require at least three infusions before improvement, and others only benefit after completing the entire series of six, sometimes weeks later. It’s crucial to complete the whole series for maximum effect and duration of relief. KCLA has a leading success rate of 83%, even for treatment-resistant cases, and no long-term side effects.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive, effective, FDA-approved treatment for depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. TMS relieves symptoms approximately 70% of the time and generally requires at least 2-3 weeks of treatment before any improvement. TMS treatments can be as short as three minutes or as long as 25 minutes, with appointments typically lasting 20-60 minutes.

Treatment is provided in KCLA’s luxurious, private treatment rooms equipped with Samsung Frame smart TVs with high-resolution art displays, entertainment, and more. TMS is generally well-tolerated, with few short-term side effects. TMS may be a suitable option for patients who have not responded to other treatments, such as prescription medication or talk therapy, or who cannot tolerate the side effects of these treatments. KCLA now accepts nine of California’s largest health insurance plans for TMS.
